Milton Monarch Girls Basketball - Team (Basketball) - Class of 2025

The Milton Monarch Girls Basketball Program made a significant mark on the local and provincial basketball scene in the 1990s, producing Milton’s most talented basketball players at the time.
Starting in 1984, the program focused on skill development and by the mid-1990’s it had established itself as one of the top programs in Ontario. The 1993-1995 era was particularly successful, with its Bantam AA team winning gold at the Ontario Basketball Association (OBA) Championships in 1994, following two years of podium finishes.
That same year, the Midget team also achieved gold at the A-level provincial championships, an incredible triumph.
This period of success not only brought accolades but also developed a unique camaraderie among players, some of whom began as rivals, but came together under the banner of the Milton Monarchs.
Many of these athletes went on to play at the post-secondary level and continued their basketball involvement long after their playing careers had ended.
Martha Gleeson and Pat Gleeson were each previously inducted into the Milton Sports Hall of Fame in 2020 as builders for their efforts to create the Monarch Basketball Program.
Forever role models, The Monarch Girls Basketball Team is the first all-female team to be inducted into the Milton Sports Hall of Fame. This is a movement to be proud of, and this achievement is truly groundbreaking, setting the stage for women in sport.
